With the holidays soon approaching, many people are ordering or sending out packages. Given this, it may not be surprising that this season can see its share of package thefts.
Reportedly, these types of thefts have been increasing in occurrence all over the country in recent times. How prevalent such thefts seem to have become can be seen in a recent survey. Over four out of 10 (42 percent) of the residents polled in this survey indicated that they have been the victim of a doorstep package theft.
Given this, individuals who are expecting packages this holiday season may want to take steps to protect their packages from doorstep thefts. Examples of such steps include: keeping close track of when an expected package is arriving, having packages sent to a safe place when they know they are going to be away from home and having trusted neighbors keep an eye out for packages.
With package thefts becoming an increasingly major concern, holiday greetings are not the only thing that can be flying around this time of year. So too can allegations of having stolen a package. Being accused of such a theft can put a person into an incredibly serious situation. Such allegations could lead to criminal charges, such as charges of serious theft crimes. The consequences a conviction on such charges can carry can be significant.
So, if a person finds themselves facing such allegations over the holiday season, they may want to promptly bring in a skilled defense attorney to protect their rights and help them understand the options they have (and the potential consequences of these options) during the course of their case.
