A Houston man was taken into police custody after allegedly being involved in a kidnapping and attempted sexual assault. He was wanted for questioning for the alleged rape attempt. The criminal case also involves two other men who were charged with kidnapping.
According to the report, the three men picked up the 28-year-old woman after she had was seen having an argument with her boyfriend at a convenient store. They drove approximately one-half mile, during which the alleged sexual assault attempt occurred, before she was able to escape. The woman allegedly did suffer injuries though they were not listed as life-threatening.
The three men and the woman were recorded on the store’s security camera. It was unclear why the woman entered the vehicle as she did not know the men and she could only provide police with a vague description. There was no other information regarding the incident available.
Those who are accused of these types of crimes still have rights. If convicted, the individual may not only face jail time, but they may also face being included in the sex offender registration. However, police officers can file charges against the accused individual based just on allegation with no physical evidence needed to back up the allegation. An experienced Houston attorney may be able to give valuable legal advice to their clients and to provide a strong defense.
The attorney may be able to help their client by investigating any of the available evidence against their client. They may use the police reports and any video evidence. They may also look for other reasons behind the allegations and bring in character witnesses for their client.
