On Jan. 27, Texas authorities reported that three individuals who robbed a Houston gas station in September had not yet been identified. The three men reportedly arrived at the gas station in a white Mercedes SUV, which they used as a getaway vehicle.
The three men were described as being dressed in black. One was reportedly wearing an orange hat, one was wearing white gloves and the third was wearing bright green sneakers. Police stated that all three men incapacitated the employee after leaping over the counter. They then emptied the cash register before leaving. Authorities released the security footage and asked for those with any information to contact them.
Those who have been handed robbery charges can face significant penalties if they are convicted. For example, if force was used and if the value of the property that was taken is high, they could be sentenced to years in prison and major fines. Regardless of the severity of the crime, they could lose their job and be prevented from finding appropriate employment in the future.
Because the consequences of theft crimes are serious, a criminal defense attorney may help. Depending on the evidence from the case, there are several defense strategies that could possibly be utilized. In some cases, the defendant could have an alibi placing them at a different place at the time the incident occurred. A criminal defense attorney can also review the details of the arrest to see if the constitutional rights of the defendant were violated in some manner.
