Judge charged with felony theft

Law enforcement authorities with the Texas Rangers recently charged a justice of the peace with felony theft between $1,000 and $20,000. Reportedly, the judge was taken into custody on Oct. 13 and later released on a personal recognizance bond. The woman, who is the serving justice of the peace for Brooks County, allegedly wrote a series of checks to illegal game rooms in Falfurrias.

2 Texas women taken into custody for theft

Police say that two females taken into custody on Oct. 16 confessed to 50 break-ins across multiple cities in northern portion of Texas. Authorities first made contact with the women after a traffic stop that took place at 4 a.m. that morning after an illegal lane change. When police approached their vehicle, they saw power tools, a vice grip and a lock cutter.

Police use social media app to conduct DUI traffic stop

Texas residents might have heard about a social media app called Periscope that allows people to live-stream video from their smartphones and broadcast the video all over the world. On Oct. 10, a woman in Florida was charged for DUI as a result of a live stream that she broadcast on Periscope.

Texas is hot spot for watercraft theft

The state of Texas has a lot of watercraft theft compared to most other parts of the country. According to data from the National Insurance Crime Bureau, Texas ranks number three for watercraft theft after Florida and California. Although Texas is still one of the top five states for watercraft theft, there were fewer watercraft thefts in 2014 than there have been in other years.
