Robbery leads to felony charge for 3 in Central Texas

Houston residents may be interested in a case that is unfolding closer to the central part of the state. According to a report published on June 8, three people were taken into police custody and face aggravated robbery and possession of marijuana charges following an incident in Hays County. A minor who was also detained in connection with the incident was released to the custody of a parent pending further questioning.

The robbery allegedly took place when an undisclosed number of people went to a house located in the 4400 block of Dacy Lane and were approached by the charged individuals and the minor. Sources report that one of the alleged robbers was armed with a baseball bat and another was carrying a firearm at the time that the meeting occurred. After money was demanded and reportedly denied, shots were fired as those who had been approached fled the scene in a car and traveled to Buda.

The alleged attackers also left the scene in a car, which authorities later found at 153000 South IH-35. The three adults who are now facing both felony and misdemeanor charges in connection with the altercation range in age from 18 to 26 years. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

Aggravated robbery, which is defined as theft committed with a weapon, is a serious felony charge that could potentially lead to a lengthy prison sentence upon conviction. In Texas, however, even a minor theft charge conviction can lead to serious consequences, and thus having the assistance of a criminal defense attorney at the early stages of the matter can be advisable.
