2 Texas men accused of assaulting and mugging 19-year-old

On Behalf of | Jul 2, 2014 | Criminal Defense |

Two Texas men, ages 21 and 19, were taken into police custody on June 23 after they were accused of luring a 19-year-old man to their apartment in order to steal his cash and cigarettes after beating him. According to the report, they were taken into custody around 9:15 p.m. in Roman Forest.

The male who was allegedly beaten and mugged reportedly contacted the police after the incident occurred. The man was said to have injuries around his face when the authorities arrived. He was able to tell the authorities where the two accused men lived. He also told them that the men had used a phone that did not belong to them to tell him to bring cash and cigarettes to the residence. The man believed it was a female acquaintance who had contacted him, not the two men.

One of the men accused in the stabbing had been taken into custody prior to this incident. In June 2012, he was reportedly taken into custody and convicted on charges of felony theft; he spent 90 days in jail for this incident. In August 2013, he was taken into custody and charged for assault and threatening someone with bodily injury. Both men remained in custody on $30,000 bond each at the time the report was released.

Those who are facing charges such as second degree felony robbery may benefit from the help of a strong criminal defense lawyer in order to fight the charges. Even though these charges may have severe consequences if the men are convicted, there are several ways that the consequences may be reduced. For example, if there is any evidence that the two men were not involved in the assault, the charges against them may be dropped. If the evidence is strong, they may be able to negotiate a plea deal that reduces the amount of jail time they may be sentenced to.
