Texas couple arrested for theft of sorority pins in Arlington

A husband and wife from Texas were detained on suspicion of theft on Mar. 12. The 42-year-old woman and her 41-year-old spouse were arrested on theft charges for an alleged burglary of sorority memorabilia in Arlington. The woman was an employee at the college headquarters and has allegedly been suspended from her job. Details surrounding the charges remain unknown at the time of the report.

The couple was arrested on suspicion of stealing about 2,000 pins from the Tri Delta sorority in Arlington. Authorities in Arlington estimated that the badges were worth more than $400,000. Police allegedly connected fingerprints at the scene of the crime to the husband and wife. They were taken into custody, charged with felony theft over $200,000 and await sentencing for their charges at the time of the report.

The pins were reported to be valuable due to precious stones in their making. The woman was an employee at the headquarters before the arrest and has been reported to be on an unpaid leave at the time of the report. Statements from the chief operations officer of the sorority have asserted that further investigations will be conducted surrounding the alleged theft.

In the state of Texas, a theft charge can result in up to 20 years of prison time and extensive fines.
