Father and son face multiple charges involving drugs and firearms

A father and son duo from Texas face multiple charges including unlawful possession of a firearm and drug charges, among others. The pair was arrested after the vehicle they were in was pulled over for allegedly failing to display a license plate. Reports indicate the pair share between them a total of 22 arrests in a single county.

Following the initial incident, the younger of the pair allegedly attempted to flee from the scene. When he was apprehended, officers allegedly found him to be in possession of methamphetamine. His arrest record indicates previous drug charges, including manufacture and delivery of controlled substances and possession of controlled substances including possession of a controlled substance analogue between 200 and 400 grams. The most recent allegations he faces include possession of controlled substances between 1 and 4 grams, evading arrest and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

The elder of the pair has allegedly previously been taken into custody on similar charges involving drugs and firearms. Along with his son, following this most recent arrest, he faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, driving without a driver's license and driving without insurance. The charges that both parties face include potential felonies.

The consequences of drug charges can be life-altering, especially if a person has a prior offense. If convicted, a person could face hefty fines, probation or time in prison. Furthermore, multiple offenses could result in a felony record that may follow a person around for a lifetime and affect a person's home, work and personal life. A criminal defense attorney may be able to examine the evidence surrounding the case to ensure a person's rights have not been violated. The attorney may be able to request a dismissal of the case if evidence doesn't support the charges, or may be able to negotiate lighter penalties and/or reduced sentences.
