Houston cop accused of persistent domestic violence

On Behalf of | Feb 8, 2012 | Domestic Violence |

Domestic violence cases are never simple. Marriage is a complex relationship, with many emotions connected to it. What begins as a minor verbal conflict can escalate into something much more serious when tempers flare. One Houston police officer is facing domestic assault charges, after his wife accused him of committing acts of aggression against her. Authorities are investigating the veracity of the woman’s claims.

The 47-year-old police officer apparently assaulted his wife over the course of the last seven months. The man’s wife reports that the man yelled at her and physically struck her on more than one occasion. After telling authorities, the officer was arrested without any resistance. A large squad of law enforcement officers was present to make the arrest, which is standard procedure when cops are arrested.

Over the last 12 years, the accused has served as a police officer in the local community. Of all his years on the force, nearly 10 have been spent acting as a patrolman for the local school district. Since his arrest he has been placed on unpaid leave by the police department.

However the investigation turns out, the officer’s life will be forever changed. The charges levied against him are very serious, which is something any cop would know.

When a person is caught up in a heated argument, particularly when dealing with the stresses of marriage and work, they can act completely out of character. After all, the man accused of domestic assault has helped to protect his community for more than a decade.

Details of the situation will come into light once the investigation is completed. Should this case go to trial, the cop will want to make sure he has competent legal counsel to act on his behalf in court.
