2 face drug charges following police raid in Texas

Following a narcotics investigation that lasted for several weeks, authorities conducted a drug raid on a Coryell County mobile home at State Highway 107 where a man, woman and 7-month old infant resided. The couple was taken into police custody on suspicion of possessing, manufacturing and delivering methamphetamine and other dangerous drugs, according to reports. Officials placed the infant into the custody of a family member.

Authorities from several law enforcement agencies conducted the raid during the early morning hours of Feb. 23. The 32-year old man faces a parole violation warrant for dangerous drugs over 1 gram and under 4 grams, one count of child endangerment, two counts of possession of dangerous drugs and two counts of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance.

The woman, who is also the infant's mother, was charged with one count of child endangerment, two counts of possession of dangerous drugs and two counts of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance. The man and the woman were placed in the Coryell County jail without bond.

Those who are charged with drug offenses could benefit from the assistance of a criminal defense attorney who could employ various defense strategies in an effort to get the charges dismissed. For example, the attorney may be able to get the evidence suppressed by challenging the cause for authorities raiding or searching a defendant's home or vehicle, or if law enforcement officials failed to follow required protocol when taking the defendants into custody. In other situations, an attorney might seek to negotiate a plea agreement with the prosecution.
