Disney actor in domestic violence incident

Texas residents who are familiar with the Disney TV show 'That's So Raven" may remember a character from the show named Eddie Thomas. Orlando Brown, the actor who portrayed Eddie Thomas, was taken into police custody on Jan. 17 for a number of different charges including battery. The 28-year-old actor was accused of striking his girlfriend, an allegation that he has denied in several public videos.

Officers from the Torrance Police Department detained Brown in Los Angeles. Brown was charged for felony counts of possession of methamphetamine, bringing methamphetamine into police headquarters and possession of drug paraphernalia. The actor also received misdemeanor resisting arrest, delaying arrest and battery.

After he was handed the charges, Brown used the social media site Instagram to publicly deny the domestic violence charge and express his love for his girlfriend. A series of photos and videos that Brown created have since been made private. In one post, Brown commented that every day in jail felt like two days and nobody cared about him. Brown has been scheduled to attend a court hearing on March 28. It is unclear how he intends to plead to his charges.

A person who has been handed a domestic violence charge like battery or assault may want to have representation from a criminal defense attorney who can determine whether the defendant should plead innocent or seek a plea deal. If the prosecution does not have a lot of evidence to convict a defendant, an argument could be made that the accusation of domestic assault was false.
