Nigerian man sent to prison for consulting with drug traffickers

A man has been sentenced to prison in East Texas in a case that some have described as unusual. The convicted man, a Nigerian immigrant to the United States, had allegedly been working as a professional witch doctor and sorcerous consultant to drug cartels.

According to official police reports, the 58-year-old man had been employed by drug traffickers in two different cartels as a procurer of magical charms and rituals. It is claimed that he was consulted every day in his magical capacity. A wide variety of his fetishes and magical objects were reputed to turn away the attention of the police and other authorities. It appears that avoiding the attention of law enforcement was a major concern with the cartels that the man worked with, and a large amount of him consulting time was spent devising magical methods to prevent the police from interfering with their alleged drug dealing operation.

The man was indicted on Sept. 5, 2013, for crimes involving the trafficking of drugs. He was convicted and sentenced on April 28, 2015, to a term in a federal penitentiary. A large number of the customers of his magical consulting business, including the alleged titular heads of the two drug cartels that he primarily worked for, have also been charged and sentenced to prison for their participation in the sale of drugs.

A conviction for a drug-related charge can bring hefty penalties, including imprisonment and large fines. An active defense may be a rational legal strategy, and an attorney may be able to assist a defendant in analyzing the case against them and taking any necessary actions to dispute the charges and mitigate any possible consequences.
