2 men charged with possessing heroin in restaurant

Texas residents may be interested to learn that two California men, ages 27 and 28, were reportedly taken into police custody on July 8 after they were observed sharing a stall in the men's restroom of a Chuck E. Cheese's restaurant. According to the report, they were reported by a customer who believed they were getting high in the stall.

Police stated that the two men had gone to the establishment in order to meet their drug supplier. The authorities reportedly did not know whether or not the men had been attempting to sell drugs to restaurant customers. Both individuals were taken into police custody and were believed to be high at the time. The officers who were at the scene also reportedly recovered a small amount of a drug that was said to be heroin.

The 28-year-old man was booked on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor under the influence. He posted $20,000 bail on July 10 and was released. The 27-year-old man was booked into jail on a charge of misdemeanor under the influence. He was released after providing a written promise to appear in court.

Those who are accused of drug possession are likely to face serious punishments if they are convicted on the associated charges. However, an attorney may be able to provide a strong defense for their client. If the officers did not follow the correct procedures when taking the client into custody, for example, the attorney may be able to have the charges dismissed. Otherwise, the attorney may be able to work out a plea deal with the prosecution that would reduce any potential jail time in exchange for a court-ordered stay in a rehabilitation center.
