According to that someone visited Parkview Manor Nursing early the morning of May 16 and ordered employees to open a safe. It is claimed that the individual carried a BB gun. When police arrived, the individual reportedly fled. However, the person is believed to have returned and ordered employees to move the safe. The following Monday, two 17-year-old Weimar High School students were arrested on theft charges. The student accused of robbing the nursing home has been identified as the school’s quarterback.
Before the nursing home incident, police believe that the football player took approximately $25 in change from a Texaco station located at 400 West Main Street in Weimar. Police allege that the other accused student participated in that burglary by driving the other boy to the gas station. The pair is also accused of breaking into the high school on Thursday, May 15. In that incident, someone reportedly broke a window and took $60 from a teacher’s desk.
The boy that is believed to have been the driver in the gas station robbery is also accused of taking a safe containing $650 from the Handy Stop Drive In and taking a computer from the Boys and Girls Club located at 101 West Jackson. Although the quarterback was named as a suspect in those incidents, he has not charged been charged in connection with those incidents. The quarterback was released from jail after posting a $25,000 bond. His classmate remained in custody on the charges.
