Detectives with the League City Police Department reportedly linked a man to 13 new cases after he had already been charged with several offenses. On Jan. 13, officers reached out to the League City community asking for assistance in locating the individual who had a warrant for felony theft charges.
Detectives went to the Bayou Brae subdivision after receiving a tip and were able to locate the 20-year-old man. Patrol officers approached the residence while detectives conducted surveillance. The man reportedly fled on foot and was found with the assistance of police dogs. He was taken into custody by police.
Originally, he was charged with evading arrest, felony theft and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He was charged with several additional charges including additional felony theft, burglary of a building, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and prohibited weapons. Each charge had an individual bond amount with it. Together, the bond amount exceeded $150,000.
The man in this story has been charged with several charges connected with multiple offenses including weapons and theft charges. There is the possibility that law enforcement made some procedural error or contaminated some of the evidence. If there were errors connected with the prosecution’s case, it may be possible to have the case dismissed.
On the other hand, if a conviction seems likely in court, an alternative might be a plea bargain. If the defendant has information that law enforcement or the prosecution values, it might be possible to reduce some of the penalties in exchange for the information. A defense attorney might be able to negotiate the arrangements for the plea agreement on the defendant’s behalf.
