Two men taken into custody for alleged theft

On Behalf of | Nov 26, 2013 | Theft & Property Crimes |

Two men are facing charges after police officers took them into custody following a bank robbery in Texas. Police allege that the men led them on a car chase before exiting their vehicle. Law enforcement officials then chased the men on foot and both were captured. An off-duty police officer was reported to have seen the men as they left the scene of the crime. He is the one who began the pursuit.

After capturing the first two men who were allegedly involved, police officers continued the search by setting up a perimeter. There were unconfirmed reports that a third person may have been in the alleged getaway vehicle. The report does not state whether a third person was ever found. Police could release that information at a later date.

The robbery occurred just prior to 7 a.m., and the police chase began during rush hour traffic. There were no reports of injuries to bank employees, customers or police officers. The reports do not indicate how much money was allegedly stolen from the bank or if the robbers used weapons during the commission of the crime.

The men who are alleged to have committed the crime could face felony charges of robbery. Their criminal history might play a role in helping a judge determine what sentence they will receive if they are found guilty. A criminal defense attorney may be able to help the pair by pleading on their behalf for the charges to be dismissed or a lesser sentence if a conviction is given. An attorney might also be able to help determine the proper approach to take in the defense case.
