Man accused of third set of drug charges

On Behalf of | Aug 13, 2013 | Drug Charges |

A man is in jail after allegedly being in possession of methamphetamines, hydrocodone and methocarbamol. After allegedly noticing suspicious activity in the early morning hours of July 5, local police officers stopped to investigate and ended up taking the 30-year-old man into custody. The man was awaiting a court appearance for a separate charge when he was detained. He is being held without bond on a number of felony weapons and drug possession charges.

According to local court documents, the man was jailed last March during a routine traffic stop after police officers allegedly confiscated about 1.4 ounces of liquid meth from the vehicle. The drugs were reportedly worth approximately $4,000. Officers also allegedly discovered a .45 caliber Sig Sauer semi-automatic pistol from the 1987 Ford Mustang the man was driving. After being booked into jail, he was released on more than $20,000 in bonds. The accused also served seven months in prison in 2007 for charges related to cocaine possession.

The man is being held in county jail on a number of third degree felony charges, including possession of a controlled substance (more than four grams), possession of a controlled substance in penalty group one, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He will appear in court on Aug. 16 to be arraigned on these current charges.

Fighting a drug possession charge can be difficult, especially if it’s not the first offense. For those facing prosecution for drug offenses, it may be a good idea to seek the advice of a criminal law attorney that has experience defending drug charge suspects in Texas. This type of lawyer may be able to negotiate a lesser charge, help establish an acceptable plea bargain, or may be able to get the charges dropped altogether.
